I’m made from corn starch with a man-made binding agent added for flexibility. I am slightly milky in colour but am definitely see-through and bar codes can be read through me. But the best bit … I can be composted at home! Yip, when you’ve finished using me, just put me in with your food scraps and garden waste, and before you know it, worms will be eating me for breakfast. Better. Right.

SHELF LIFE: Technically our comPOLY garment bags have a shelf life of 10 months, however this is only applicable when the bags are exposed to the elements, light, heat and moisture. If they are kept in boxes, in a warehouse for example, they will not start to degrade for at least a year. It is only when they are exposed to the elements that they will start to break down. When they do, they don't leach anything onto their contents, they just lose their strength and become brittle.

Our comPOST Range is made from totally biodegradable and compostable materials; corn starch, PLA (synthesised from corn) and PBAT (Polybutyrate Adipate Terephthalate). PLA (Polylactide) is a bio-based, biodegradable material made from renewable plant material (starches such as corn husks, rice straw and wheat straw).
While the materials used to form our comPOST Range are biodegradable and compostable, they are not however 100% renewable as the PBAT component is derived from petroleum-based materials. We are limited at the moment by the availability of suitable, sustainable raw materials that deliver the barrier and performance properties we need but are always testing resins made from an even greater amount of plant-based material – exciting times! This combination of materials is non-toxic and contains no Phthalate or Bisphenol A (BPA). The inputs to our products are certified free of GMO material
CLOSE TO ZERO WASTE . SOME RENEWABLE ENERGY
We have worked super-hard with our production facilities to ensure that our comPOST Packs, comPOSTubble Bags and comPOLY Bags are made in a zero waste process. For our comPOSTlabels and comPOSTape, it's a bit trickier, but we're getting closer all the time.
CERTIFIED HOME &/OR INDUSTRIALLY COMPOSTABLE
Products in this range are fully biodegradable and will be broken down naturally by microbes in a composting environment. They will NOT create micro plastics.
Products carrying a Home Compostable certification will break down within 180 days in a home compost. If you don't have a home compost, you might want to think about starting one, it's a great way to keep food scraps out of landfill and return nutrients to the soil. Composting not your bag? We also have a network of Collection points where you can drop off your used packaging instead.
Products carrying the Seedling Compostable logo require the more intense conditions of a Commercial composting facility to break down.
Our compostable packaging journey began when we developed our now infamous, black, ‘Real Dirt Bags’ (biodegradable courier satchels) –a truly re-evolutionary product. This range has since expanded to include labels, tape, poly bags and more!
